The Sahaara Foundation has generously renewed their commitment to the children living in SOS Children’s Village Bhubaneshwar, India. Boyd McBride, the National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Canada met with Shashi and Prem Kalia on the 22nd of July at their home in Edmonton, Alberta for the presentation of a $2,000 cheque.

SOS Children's Village Bhubaneshwar is situated in eastern India and has been in operation since 1986. The Sahaara Foundation’s support of SOS Children’s Villages since 2000 has helped SOS Bhubaneshwar provide almost 200 orphaned and abandoned children with an education, health care, and the love and support of an SOS family…it is a place they happily call home. The foundation’s funds have also helped the SOS Family Strengthening Program extend its reach to over 250 impoverished children and their families living near the Village. This program provides free health checkups for mothers and children, nutritional and educational support as well HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention.
