The Geneva-based NGO Group for the Convention on the Rights of the Child is a coalition of international NGOs, which works together to facilitate the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. It works in close cooperation with the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child to support civil society contributions to the monitoring of the Convention.
SOS Children’s Villages has been a full member of the group since 2002, and has served on the Executive Committee since 2008.
SOS Children's Villages co-convenes Working Group on Children without Parental Care
Within this group, SOS Children’s Villages co-convenes the Working Group on Children without Parental Care. This group was established to initiate and contribute to the drafting of the UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children and to secure their recognition by the UN General Assembly. Now that the Guidelines have been welcomed, the main focus of this working group is to promote and support their implementation.
