Hungry people from the surrounding community would arrive at the SOS children`s village gate asking for food. SOS gave whatever leftover food they could which was appreciated. Sometimes animals would find their way through the fence to graze on anything green they could find.
For those outside of the SOS Village, food was given the day before the end of Ramadan. SOS provided 25 k of rice and 3 litres of oil which helped to supplement the diet of some local families. It lasted about a month and in some cases, truly saved lives.
