Hurricane "Hanna" was worse than Gustav for Haiti and the Domician Republic.
Fortunately the SOS families are safe, secure and wellprotected. Only some community centres in Cap Haitien were flooded. Currently, everything still continues to operate. Further assessments will happen when the rains stop.
In the Dominican Republic;
Some communities are being evacuated; all SOS families are however there are four families who are sheltering in homes of relatives. The national police and organisations such as civil defence will move away people to safe areas.
SOS in Dominican Republic is on red alert and taking corresponding actions of providing shelters for evacuations of communities in areas near rivers or at greater risk, and we hope for the end of the storms.
