Trek Escapes Renews its Support of SOS Children’s Villages Canada 

Ottawa, Ontario, June 4, 2009—Trek Escapes, one of Canada’s leading Small Group Adventure Travel Companies, has renewed its support of SOS Children’s Villages Canada, the world’s largest orphan-serving organization, for a second year. From January 26 to February 17, 2009 the company held their annual “World in a Weekend” event in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton, raising funds for the orphan-serving charity through admission.

World in a Weekend is a two day event bringing together 10 Adventure Travel Experts and 42 Slideshows, for over 40 hours of exciting information on the world’s most spectacular travel destinations. Evening shows were also held in Courtenay, Kamloops, Kelowna, London, Ottawa, Regina, Saskatoon, Victoria and Winnipeg.

The funds collected will contribute to SOS Children’s Villages‘ mission of providing a loving home and opportunity to orphaned and abandoned children.

More specifically Trek Escape’s donation will be directed to SOS’s new all-Canadian funded SOS Children’s Village in Ondangwa, Namibia as well as to the SOS Hermann Gmeiner Primary School in Vientiane, Laos; the SOS Children's Village Khajuri Kalan for Children with Special Needs in Bhopal, India; and the SOS Family Care Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.
