SOS Children's Villages Canada announces their renewed partnership with Attila Glatz Concert Productions, presenting Salute to Vienna –NEW YEAR’S CONCERT 2011 in 22 cities throughout North America
SOS Children's Villages Canada is pleased to announce their partnership with Attila Glatz Concert Productions will continue into 2011. The company, creators of SALUTE TO VIENNA, a well-loved, time honoured tradition in North America for over 16 years, is proud to announce SOS Children’s Villages Canada (and U.S.) as their prime charity. Through this partnership they will endeavour to raise funds and awareness for orphaned and abandoned children around the world.
With its roots in post World War II Austria, SOS Children's Villages has spread around the world as a beacon of hope for children in need. Similarly, Salute to Vienna represents the very best of Austria’s Viennese musical legacy, and has become the world’s greatest concert series. Together they will support the work of SOS Children's Villages to provide care for children in need and support for their families and communities.
Now in its 17th year, Salute to Vienna performances have continuously sold out in major concert halls across North America. Toronto’s Roy Thomson Hall, Place des Arts in Montreal, the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver, the Kennedy Center in Washington, the Lincoln Center in New York, the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles are but a few of the 22 venues simultaneously celebrating the New Year with Salute to Vienna!
This season the concert series will include nine talented casts performing almost simultaneously throughout North America. Each performance features some of the most dynamic maestros, singers and dancers from the best of Europe’s opera houses and concert halls. These magnificent live performances, patterned after Vienna’s famous Neujahrskonzert, are the only New Year’s celebrations officially recognized by the Mayor of Vienna as authentic recreations of the 70 year-old Viennese New Year’s tradition.
Salute to Vienna’s ‘old-world’ charm has been strongly embraced by ‘new-world’ audiences. Each performances features a full symphony orchestra, led be a European conductor and accompanied by stellar sopranos, tenors and dancers. The programme is comprised of magnificent marches, lively czardas, Viennese waltzes, polkas,arias and duets from the best-loved operettas by Johann Strauss Jr., Franz Lehár and Emmerich Kálman.
