What is World Orphan Week :
World Orphan Week is a yearly awareness and fundraising campaign that opens young people’s eyes to the realities faced by the world’s millions of orphaned and abandonned children and gives them, their school and their family, a chance to act. It began in the UK in 2005, and since, has been launched in the United States in Canada.

Why become a part of WOW:
There is a Global Orphan Crisis; in some places, especially in Southern Africa, so many children have been left without people to look after them that not only are their lives in peril, but so is the future of their countries. Now is the time to repond to the World Orphan Crisis!
-There are 143 Million Orphans Worldwide
-Globally there are over 100 million street children
-1.2 million children are trafficked each year
-There are over 300,000 child soldiers worldwide
We need to act now.
As a canadian student, you have a family, access to clean water and food, access to school and to a doctor. You have the power to share your good fortune with others by doing what you can to respond to the crisis. This means learning more about the problems facing other young people around the world, sharing what you’ve learned and your desire to act with your friends, family and teachers and, last but not least, doing something!
