SOS Children's Villages supports families and communities so that they are able to provide for their children themselves in the future. The goal is community and family empowerment. This is why SOS Children's Villages' family strengthening programs very much rely on work with the communities as well as volunteer work.
In this way, local decision-makers are involved and needs analyses are carried in a way that is relevant to the community. This ensure that the best decisions possible are made when determining which families need what help. Only in this collaborative way can sustainable social networks develop, allowing local people to carry on and support on a long-term basis without assistance from SOS Children's Villages.
