The government of Canada have announced that it will match any donation made by Canadians to support the relief efforts in Nepal.

This means any donation to SOS Children’s Villages will now have twice the impact, and will reach twice as many children and families affected by the deadly Earthquake.

Any donation made to SOS Children’s Villages Canada since our Earthquake appeal began on April 25 is eligible for matching funds, as well as any donation made in the month that follows.

To be counted toward the Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund, donations must be made by individual Canadians, may not exceed $100,000 per individual and must be:

  • monetary in nature;
  • made to a registered Canadian charity that is receiving donations in response to the Nepal earthquake
  • specifically earmarked for response to the Nepal earthquake;
  • made between April 25 and May 25, 2015.

Right now, as many as one million Nepalese children have been affected by the earthquake. SOS Children's Villages is running relief camps in four locations, providing food and shelter, and ensuring children who are alone are cared for and reconnected to their families.
