St. Thomas More Raises Money for Haiti

An Ottawa elementary school's kids help kids in Haiti.

When choosing what charity the school should support for Haiti relief, the principal of St. Thomas More chose SOS Children’s Villages because it would make the most impact with school aged children. The parent council offered to donate chocolate bars that were left over from a fundraiser that they had done, selling the chocolate for $2 with all the proceeds going to SOS.

St. Thomas More, though a school of only 380 children and with only a few days notice, came together for the cause. With the sale of the chocolate bars and the request for donations from families, friends and staff, they gathered an amazing sum of over $1900 Cdn. These pupils, staff and families were eager to send help to the kids they saw affected by the earthquake and proved how even the youngest members of our community can make a difference!
