Indoor Soccer Supporting 6 Villages for 2006

Prince Edward Island

On April 2nd and 3rd, 2005 the University of Price Edward Island hosted a 24 hour co-ed indoor soccer game in support of SOS Children's Villages "6 Villages for 2006" campaign.

The marathon soccer match was a great success! It was organized by UPEI women's soccer head coach Mike Redmond, who co-chaired the event with Panther assistant coach Clarence Frizzell.

With over 100 participants, the local community had a wonderful time and plans to make this an annual event at UPEI.

They made a significant contribution to the SOS Village in Rustenburg, South Africa - giving hope to children may otherwise have no future. SOS Children's Villages Canada is working with soccer communities across Canada to build a house for orphaned and abandoned children in South Africa.

"6 Villages for 2006" is the Official Charitable Campaign for the 2006 World Cup, and aims to raise funds for 6 new Villages for needy children around the world by the time the whistle blows at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
