SOS Children’s Villages International works with many institutional partners and collaborates with NGO networks at both national and international level. The aim is to work on behalf of children without parental care, share experiences, and support the multiple co-operation efforts at national level. Every SOS Children's Village association signs an agreement with the national government in the country where it works. The family-based child care model of SOS Children's Villages serves in many countries as a model to improve alternative care. Governmental and institutional co-operation further extends to joint social, educational or developmental activities. In some countries, SOS-KDI participates in designing national action plans or reforms of child-related legislation.
