A community comes together: Halloween fundraiser supports SOS Pakistan flood relief

Last Halloween, Cyma Musarat, President of Friends of SOS Children’s Villages Canada, opened her home in Toronto for a special fundraising gathering in support of SOS Children’s Villages Pakistan’s flood relief efforts.

The evening brought together supporters for a warm, spirited celebration with purpose. Guests arrived in creative costumes, enjoyed homemade hospitality, and learned about the ongoing needs of children and families recovering from Pakistan’s devastating floods.

Pakistan has endured unusually heavy monsoon rains, resulting in severe flash flooding, landslides, and widespread devastation across the country. According to UN reports, over six million people have been affected since June, with nearly 1,000 lives lost, including 255 children.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, the event raised over $15,000, funds that directly support emergency and recovery programs for families affected by widespread flooding. In emergencies, SOS Children’s Villages provides a range of essential services, including safe spaces for children, psychosocial support, temporary shelter, and water and sanitation assistance, and these funds help make that response possible.

SOS Children’s Villages Canada extends our heartfelt thanks to Cyma Musarat, the Friends of SOS Children’s Villages Canada, and all guests who contributed to this meaningful evening. Your compassion is helping give children and families in Pakistan renewed hope and support during one of the most difficult periods in their lives.

Canadians wishing to help vulnerable children are encouraged to sponsor a child, sponsor an SOS Village or make a one-time donation. Your support will change the lives of vulnerable children without parental care. Please help today.
