SOS Children's Villages India's Community Outreach Programmes
Since 2002, SOS Children's Villages India has been supporting hundreds of children in need with its community outreach programmes. These children from near the SOS Children's Village come to the SOS Children's Village for around four hours each day where they receive two hours of informal education, a nutritious meal and the chance to play, care-free, with the other children. |

The main goal of the programmes is to give help to those children who do not even receive the most basic food, and who have no chance of going to a proper school. The first such community outreach programme was started in 2002 in SOS Children's Village Greenfields, in a suburb of New Dehli supporting 60 children, whose parents work in the quarry.
Since then, the number of children being looked after by these SOS Community Outreach Programmes in India has grown to over 1,000. The need is much greater: by the end of 2004, the number of children being helped will have risen to 1,500.
