The Opportunity: Donor Support Officer

One-year contract, full-time, Mon – Fri. with possibility of renewal

Location: Ottawa, ON

Description: This position supports the Donor Support and Database Management functions. Under direction of the Team Manager, this position responds to incoming donor enquiries, processes donation transactions, maintains database donor records and prepares frequent electronic and paper mailings to donors. This role requires excellent communications skills (oral/written) a sharp eye for detail and accuracy. Initiative, independent work style and excellent time management skills are a must.

Duties and Responsibilities

Donor Support

  • Answer and direct all incoming calls
  • Respond to incoming donor queries via telephone and email
  • Update donor database records and keep details current
  • Coordinate electronic and paper-based mailings
  • Provide exceptional customer service to our supporters

Donation Processing and Database Maintenance

  • Record and process all cash, cheque and credit card donations received
  • Import on-line gifts and process recurring committed EFT gifts
  • File supporting gift documentation
  • Update database records
  • Support database manager with report generation
  • Manage workload efficiently, prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, actively contribute to Team objectives

Essential Qualifications

  • Proficient with MS Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge fundraising software (or other CRM systems)
  • Strong English language communication skills
  • Positive customer service attitude
  • Accurate keyboarding
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Effective time management, initiative

Additional Qualifications (an asset but not mandatory)

  • Knowledge of database concepts
  • French language skills

Annual Salary: $32,000 - $35,000

Offers of employment will be conditional upon satisfactory results of professional reference checks and provision of a Vulnerable Sector Background Check from the Ottawa Police Service.
