Other community work in Keila, Estonia
Since SOS Children's Villages in Keila opened its gates in 1995, the work has continued to expand. Today, SOS Children's Villages is not only caring for children in need, but is also providing invaluable support and offering hope to local families and communities through a number of facilities and programs.
The SOS Kindergarten consists of two group rooms and has a capacity for up to fifty children. Primary school education is offered at the SOS Children's Villages School, where up to 120 children can be taught in four classrooms. Additionally, the SOS Kindergarten and the SOS Children's Villages School share a kitchen, dining hall, multi-purpose hall, and garden.
Furthermore, the two SOS Youth Facilities in Keila and Tallinn are part of the SOS Children's Village in Keila. Youngsters move to the SOS Youth Facilities once they have outgrown their SOS families. They stay there during their vocational training or further education, and their youth leaders help them prepare for an independent life. The Family Strengthening Program offers access to essential services for children’s development (e.g., educational, nutritional, and health support, social skills) and supports families in protecting and caring for their children. The programme also aims to link families with income-generating activities and to help improve parents’ parenting skills.
