Get Involved in World Orphan Week!

Sunday, August 18, 2013
World Orphan Week is a call to action in response to the needless suffering of tens of millions of orphaned and abandoned children living in the world today!

Lend your voice to Orphaned and Abandoned Children

Lending your voice can make a big difference!  One of the biggest obstacles to making meaningful changes in the lives of orphaned and abandoned children is making people aware of the issues.  Today there are more than 14 million orphans world wide and as many as 100 million more children living on the streets or abandoned - but most people don't even know.

Let's change that!  World Orphan Week is a chance to share the facts, to get people involved, and  make a difference!

How do I lend my voice?  How Can I Help Orphans?

We have developed a lot of resources you can use by downloading them from our website.  These include fact sheets, World Orphan Week flyers, donation can labels, sample letters for a letter writing campaign - all kinds of things.  There is also a printed World Orphan Week brochure and a World Orphan Week video you can use by contacting us and requesting your fundraising and awareness pack!

What should you do with all this stuff?  That's up to you.  One simple but very effective way to help spread the word and to raise funds is to set up a booth in a public place where you can share World Orphan Week brochures and accept donations for orphaned and abandoned children.  Some good locations may include a shopping mall, grocery store, school campus etc..  Doing this is a great way to raise both awareness and funds for orphaned and abandoned children!

Please  contact us to request your free fundraising pack!

Of course there are all kinds of other great ways to use your creativity and energy to Lend Your Voice during World Orphan Week 2008.  Feel free to use your unique skills, talents and abilities to help raise awareness and funds for orphaned and abandoned children in the way that most interests you.  You can Click HERE to see what other volunteers are already doing, and maybe you'll be inspired by some of their ideas.

The First Step to Getting Started with your World Orphan Week Fundraiser:

We'd love to hear about your plans and ideas so we'll be able to support you in your endeavors if possible!

Get in touch with us and request your free fundraising pack!  You'll need to complete this step if you'd like to use our World Orphan Week brochures and video (we need to mail them to you), as well as recieve your donation log.

Your donation log is very important!  Without contacting us for an official World Orphan Week 2008 donation log, people who make donations for your event will not be able to recieve tax reciepts.  It is very important that if you decide to fundraise for us that you contact us to recieve the materials you will need.

Other Ways the Get Involved:

For Younger Volunteers We'd suggest checking out our "Wear WOW during World Orphan Week Campaign.

If you are a musician, we'd encourage you to lend your voice during World Orphan Week using your musical talents!

One of the best ways to provide sustained and holistic family-based care is for an orphaned or abandoned child is to sponsor a child with SOS Children's Villages during World Orphan Week!

SOS ensures that all children in their care grow up in a family environment recieving the care, education, and opportunities they need to grow into independent adults.
