An unimaginable disaster has ravaged Haiti. For decades people in the poorest country in the western hemisphere had lived with an extremely poor infrastructure and the earthquake has even destroyed that most basic infrastructure. The people in Haiti urgently need all our help, particularly the children that now have no protection and are defenceless as a result of the disaster.

SOS Children's Villages' activities in Haiti date back to 1979. Over the decades the organisation has been able to build up its activities into a fully functioning structure. I'd like to ask you to support - with all the energy you can - the emergency relief activities of SOS Children's Villages, which are so urgently needed by the children in Haiti. I myself have been helping different SOS programmes for years by holding regular charity concerts and have of course made a donation to the emergency relief activities in Haiti. That's because I think it's an obvious act of human solidarity not to shut our eyes to the disaster, but to put those helping on the ground into the position that they are able to keep the suffering to a minimum and to lead the children in Haiti towards a humane future.
