Authentic Syrian Mujadara Recipe

Description: Al-Majdara is a recipe famous in Syria and surrounding countries, it is famous because it’s delicious taste and high nutritional value. It is also a vegetarian dish.

  • 4 cups of Bulgur Wheat
  • 2 cups of Lentils
  • 3/4 cup Olive Oil
  • 1/2 cup Sunflower Oil
  • 4 small Onions
  • 2 tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. SOS aunt making MujadaraStart with putting the Lentil in a pot, filling it half-way with water.
  2. Boiling Lentils until they become chewable.
  3. Add the Bulgur Wheat to the pot with Olive oil and sunflower oil, make sure to mix them together slowly and let them boil on the stove whilst also adding water to fill up to ¾ of the pot.
  4. Meanwhile, chop the onion into slices.
  5. Fry onion slices with olive oil till their color turns yellow and become crispy.
  6. Don’t forget to keep checking the boiling Bulgur with the Lentil and once you find the water has been absorbed by the Bulgur completely, turn off the stove and serve the meal in a plate and pour the hot frying onion slices with olive oil over the dish.
  7. You can serve the dish with plate of salad and different kinds of pickles.
