Perspectives on Care: Growing Up in Alternative Care in Canada and Abroad

Join us on June 6, 2019, at the Women Deliver Canada Pavilion for a dynamic discussion on the situation facing young women as they transition out of alternative care in Canada and around the world.

Hear from leading national and international child protection practitioners, as well as a panel of youth advocates who will speak to their own lived experience having grown up in alternative care in Canada and Burundi. The panel discussion will be facilitated by Kistie Singh, Director of Programs and Services for SOS Children’s Village British Columbia, and will explore the gender equality challenges facing adolescent girls and young women as they transition out of care.

The Canada Pavilion, hosted by CanWaCH and Women Deliver 2019 Mobilization Canada, is less than a 10-minute walk from the Vancouver Convention Centre. The Canada Pavilion at Steamworks Brewpub will be the go-to spot for Canadian events.
