The Determined Nurse strives to make an impact on the lives of the less fortunate. They cannot stand to see the suffering of others, and do whatever it takes to make a difference. The Determined Nurse refuses to give up, and works tirelessly to help every individual in need.

William Silva Dos Santos

At the age of 7, William was often left alone for days, forced to take care of his brothers and sisters. After being brought to an SOS village he was given a chance to be a child. “I remember in the SOS Village I was able to play with real toys instead of playing with shoe boxes”. While the SOS home gave William the opportunity to explore his passions, it was his determination that led him to become a nurse. Today William is working toward his goal of providing international medical assistance with Doctors Without Borders. It is because of Williams incredible commitment to helping others that in 2016 he was awarded the Hermann Gmeiner awards.
