Real world hero and SOS Children's Villages Award winner: William Silva Dos Santos

The determined nurse strives to make an impact on the lives of the less fortunate. They cannot stand to see others suffer and will do whatever it takes to make a difference. The determined nurse refuses to give up and works tirelessly to help every individual in need.

At the age of 7, William was often left alone for days, forced to take care of his brothers and sisters. After being brought to SOS Children's Villages India, he was given a chance to be a child. “I remember in the SOS Village I was able to play with real toys instead of playing with shoe boxes”. While at the SOS home, William had the opportunity to explore his passions, but it was his determination that led him to become a nurse. Today, William is working toward his goal of providing international medical assistance with Doctors Without Borders. It is because of William's incredible commitment to helping others that he received the SOS Children's Villages Award in 2016.
