The School Year starts with the Traditional Arbuznik

On 2 September the traditional Watermelon Feast took place in SOS Children's Village St. Petersburg in Russia.

As is tradition, for the feast the children made a little presentation about their summer activities, spoke about their impressions from the summer vacation, watched summer videos and showed wall newspapers with their photos.
Besides the regular guests from the SOS Youth Facility in St. Petersburg, other friends of the village gathered at its centre to watch the children's performances and to join them later in games and dancing.
The evening festivities, which also celebrated the beginning of the new school year, finished as always with a disco for the children.
