Though the progress on the Millennium Development Goals has been significant, there are still pressing global issues that concern the lives of millions. Indeed, if eradicating poverty, maternal and child mortality is to be achieved within our lifetimes, these issues concern each and every one of us.

This week our Put Children First campaign is sharing facts and figures about what’s facing kids and families:

  • Diarrhoea killed more than 1600 children under 5 years of age every day in 2012
  • In developing countries, only 57% of children manage to stay in school until the last primary grade
  • Asia is home to 60 million orphaned children, more than anywhere else in the world

These are numbers that we cannot ignore, and, as shocking as they are, our goal is to share them with our donors and supporters. With more knowledge and support, we can change these numbers for the better.
