Ottawa, Canada, (September 22, 2017) -  SOS Children’s Villages Canada is pleased to welcome Thomas Bauer as its new President and CEO.   Since joining SOS Children’s Villages International in 2008, Mr. Bauer has provided immeasurable leadership in ensuring alignment between the National Associations and the International Office.

Over the coming months, Mr. Bauer will be transitioning from his role as Head of PSA Relations, in Innsbruck and International Representative on the Board of Directors of SOS Canada, SOS UK, SOS USA, SOS Italy and SOS Australia.  Mr. Bauer succeeds Boyd McBride in his new role.  Mr. McBride retired in June, 2017 after 15 years of service to the Association.

Jennie Moushos, Chair of the Board of Directors for SOS Children’s Villages Canada, expressed her support of  this appointment, “It was a long and thorough process to find a successor who could meet our high standards in terms of quality of leadership, vision and programmatic acumen.  With his dedication to social care and extensive experience in social work and non-profit management, we are thrilled to have Mr. Bauer join us to lead SOS Children’s Villages Canada into new and exciting opportunities in program development and fundraising.”

For his part, Mr. Bauer said, “Working for SOS Children’s Villages Canada is an exciting opportunity.  I’m in a unique position -  having spent so much time working with SOS Children’s Villages International at the Federation level - I’ll be able to bring knowledge and programmatic experience from the International Office to strengthen the endeavours of SOS Canada, and also gain new insights from an  Association’s perspective.  I look forward to the chapter ahead both personally - moving to Canada will be a new adventure for my family and myself - and professionally, as we all work together to build better futures for the children in our care.”
