I believe education is a cornerstone to help children overcome their challenges,” Fidaa, SOS mother, SOS Children’s Village Bethlehem in the Palestinian Territories.

“The love I feel from the children is what makes me the happiest about my work at SOS Children’s Villages, because their feelings are sincere and they genuinely express them. This is what gratifies me the most as an SOS mother.

SOS mother Fidaa with her family in Bethlehem, Palestinian TerritoriesMy favourite time during the day is study time. Because I’m aware that children who are in our care have been through tough moments and because I believe education is a cornerstone to help children overcome their challenges and have a brighter future.

I also like playing with the children. It allows me to discover their talents and abilities and to help them to develop them. Playing also enhances the family bond between children as brothers and sisters and helps them to integrate and interact with one another.”

Fidaa joined SOS Children’s Villages in 2011. Now she takes care of seven children.

This Mother's Day, we'd like to ask you to honour the work SOS mothers do by making a small donation. With your help, we can continue to support these wonderful women who are mothers to the most vulnerable.

Canadians wishing to help vulnerable children are encouraged to sponsor a child, sponsor a Village or make a one-time donation. Your support will change the lives of orphaned, abandoned and other vulnerable children. Please help today.
