Sunday, August 18, 2013

For the second year in a row the ScotiaMcLeod Fixed Floaters, led by Mo Vikrant, have committed to helping kids in Kigali, Rwanda in their quest for gold at the Toronto International Dragonboat Festival.

In 2010 the Fixed Floaters raised over $30,000 for the SOS Children's Village in Kigali, Rwanda and placed 3rd in the Bankers' Cup in the Toronto International Dragon Boat Festival. This year, they’re aiming to raise an astonishing $100,000 for SOS Children's Villages!

The first race for the Fixed Floaters was in 2009 where they won their division! Upon their return to the water in 2010 there was a decision to support children in need while taking on the challenge again.

“Our team is raising funds for the SOS Children's Villages Canada.  This organization does some wonderful work with underprivileged children around the world,” says Fixed Floaters Captain, Mo Vikrant.

In August, 2010 Mo had an opportunity to visit  SOS Children's Villages Kigali in  Rwanda to see for himself the work that is being done.
